This site is starting to seem like "Lord of the Flies Continues."
I vote for renaming the site if people can not act like grownups.
Or, we can let everyone who feels personally attacked count up the snarky comments on each side, then the one with the least they have made gets the last one.
Donate lots of money and hire moderators who have to approve every post before it appears?
Re. people who do not agree with others. That is fine. It is not only encouraged, but it is a right under the Constitution.
The hosting rules have limitations you all agreed to when you signed up for this site. Which you can review.
Personal attacks are grounds for warnings, suspension and possible termination of user accounts.
Remember that when you do not agree with someone, you should certainly point out why respectfully. You get more flies and voters with honey than vinegar.

I bet a site called "if people cannot act like grownups" would get alot of people. I choose not to attract flies, a right, I'm sure somewhere in the bill of rights.

I just know that I've spent a lot of time trying to be the diplomat here - I've spent a lot of time BABYSITTING. And I dont get anything for this so its on my own time and personal stress level.
I understand people can misread things and misconstrue - projecting what they "think" someone is saying and take it personally but for pete's sake STOP IT!
Even a babysitter makes an hourly wage..
I dont want to have to start punishing people. We're grown ups here. We have freedom of speech.. But if it gets out of hand I'll just start deleting things left and right and then we'll see how well that goes over. Or perhsp 1st strike a warning, 2nd and your banned for a couple of days, third your out. The stress I and a couple of the mods have to deal with is unacceptable here. So think before you post - stop being so sensitive when reading someone else's post - and realize we all have differing opinions and ITS OK!
Yes, this wasn't a diplomatic post on my part - can you tell when Im getting to my last patient straw?
UGH!

Thanks Lataet for all that you do. This blog is so benign compared to others I occasionally look at, which I think is in large part due to your efforts, along with the other moderators. Still, as upset as we all are about our lack of good choices for this election - we only have less than two months to put up with all of this nonsense. What we will want then is a core group that can really make a difference, keeping to the ideals of the Edwards that all brought us together. Hopefully we can all be kind to each other as we struggle with what lever to pull - or mark to make - in November.

True dat on benign. I think most people are pretty well behaved, here. I've just recently been having a chronically bad day Tips for not being a bottom feeding snark: See something that you have written that is perhaps unproductive to or for anyone, other than you...? then don't post it. Believe it or not lately I have been deleting more than half of what I really want to say, honestly....no really. Thanks Lateat, sorry for being a smart a** Hope all is well. It was better when economy was inflated with fake dollars and business was busy and I had 0 time to be on here....but no longer. Hold on everybody, I think we are in for a bumpy ride

I found these definitions of "snark" in the Urban Dictionary at http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=snark1. snark noun Combination of "snide" and "remark". Sarcastic comment(s). Also snarky (adj.) and snarkily (adv.) His commentary was rife with snark. "Your boundless ineptitude is astounding," she snarkily declared. by Tootybug47 Feb 9, 2004
2. snark Use of sarcasm or malice in speech. Commonly found in the LiveJournal community. also snarky, snarkiness. Not to be snarky, but I don't see how what you're saying makes any sense.
"Oh, well, *that's* a good idea. How about we *all* follow *you* and jump off a cliff like lemmings?" she said snarkily. by kathy Sep 30, 2003
3. Snark n.
1. Biting, cruel humor or wit, commonly used to verbally attack someone or something. "Wow, this Quicken stuff is great: I can see how frelled I am by week, month, or even full color pie chart!" by Scaper-X Jan 17, 2004 And yeah, I know my request for a no snark zone was a bit snarky, too. We need our one place where we can try to act like grownup humans.

We have a contender! Should we have a contest and vote or just collect ones and put them in a special emoticon thread for reference? Obviously, I am hung up on the shark imagery (bet you were wondering what those things were supposed to be

Unfortunately, the truth needs to be told and their is a truth. Half-truths, outright lies and innuendo shouldn't be tolerated and if someone is doing that on purpose, I say let the board handle the board. I ddin't start out being an Obama supporter but some of the BS spread about him makes me all the more loyal to him, even though I don't bleieve he is a perfect candidate.
As for my snarkness if I believe that a better version of the truth exists, I will state it and fight for it, I would ask others to evaluate their own stories as well or the ones they publish. I do not think that I published anything that was a lie, I try very hard to publish information that will help people get a beter understanding of the issues and look at it and study something for the purpose of enlightment.
I went and spent a lot of time researching to find out if a better answer is prevelant and if so I post it. I can also encourage someone even though I don't agree with them.
Don't worry Pat my energy will is burning out and soon I will take a little vacation from blogging, hopefully.

Bucklaw - we will probably all need a vacation after this election - but please don't give up blogging here. That is when the real work will begin. Unfortunately, neither candidate offered up by the major parties are as strong as we had all hoped for. However, that will mean that whoever is in power, we will need to keep the movement alive in whatever way we can. Your voice - as is all the other voices that post here - are very important.
